LONG GOODBYE, THE
Ironic updating of the Raymond Chandler novel, in which Philip Marlowe helps an eccentric friend who is suspected of murdering his wife. Altman suggests that Marlowe's chivalric virtues are deeply at odds with contemporary LA. Scripted by Leigh Brackett, who worked on THE BIG SLEEP, and gloriously shot by Vilmos Zsigmond. One of the key films of the Seventies.
