A rancorous and scathing look at contemporary Britain as an ambitious coffee salesman pushes his way to the top. Musical interludes by Alan Price punctuate the episodic structure of the narrative, a neo-Brechtian device encouraging the viewer to take a critical distance from the events on-screen.
