2003:
Hollywood Classics acquires rights to first Monty Python
feature film.
"And Now For Something Completely Different"
is a showcase of the kind of comedy that defines Monty Python's Flying
Circus. The BBC comedy classic has a huge following worldwide, owing to
its unique use of surreal humour. This movie is a collection of some of
the Pythons' best from their first two seasons, including classics like
"The Lumberjack Song" and "The Dead Parrot Sketch."
Contributing greatly to the success of "Monty Python" was the
eye-catching animation created by Terry Gilliam. This movie is rich with
his art, which includes the wacky B-movie spoof "The Killer Cars."
This is a movie all Python fans should see.
There are lots of other classics to enjoy - the
dirty fork, Hell's Grannies, the Upper Class Twit of the Year show, Blackmail,
camp square-bashing,...
Besides the dirty fork sketch and Gilliam's great
animation, every part of the movie is a true masterpiece. A great introduction
to the world of Monty Python.
"Monty Python" isn't a person, but a
group of British actors that performed their famous comedy programme "Monty
Python's Flying Circus" on BBC from 5. Oct 1969 to 5. Dec 1974. Its
members are Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry
Jones and Michael Palin.
Their use of typical British humour in the sketches,
their radical treatment of some of the most explosive issues of their
time (Sex, Racism, Politics, Drugs, Mice, etc...) and their outstanding
ability as writers and actors turned the series into a classic.
