The Growth of Digital Cinema in Europe

April 2009

Digital cinema is becoming a reality in Europe. Since the launch of the Hollywood Classics digital cinema project at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, we have worked hard at studio level to obtain agreement to the project, while at the same time championing the project as the only way forward in view of ever-increasing 35mm print costs.
There are now over 1,000 digital screens in Europe, with another 500 planned by the end of 2009.

Hollywood Classics is now in a position to offer around 50 films for 2k digital projection via JPEG2000 servers. For more information, please contact Joe Dreier.
